FAQs - Premium E-liquids

What is E-Liquid?

E-liquid is the fluid that you put in a tank and vape to produce the vapor, flavour and the nicotine rush.

What Goes into an E-Liquid?

An e-liquid is composed of 3 or 4 components. The main component is flavouring. This is what you taste and usually a deciding factor in choosing an e-liquid. E-Liquids come in a wide range of flavours, from simple flavours like fruits, tobacco and menthol to more complex flavours like desserts and beverages. There are flavours to suit everyone's tastes!

The other two components in an e-liquid is VG (Vegetable Glycerin) and PG (Propylene Glycol). VG controls the vapour production, with more VG causing more vapour. PG controls the throat hit, with higher PG liquids producing a harder throat hit. E-Liquids generally come in a ratio of the two.

Nicotine is an optional component, which is a compound found in cigarettes causing the addictivity, however it is not harmful like the other components in cigarettes. E-Liquids come in nicotine strengths ranging from no nicotine to 20mg of nicotine.

What is a Short Fill?

Due to the TPD regulations, manufacturers were no longer allowed to make big bottles of e-liquids containing nicotine, but they found a way to sell big bottles without breaking the law.

Short Fills are e-liquids bigger than 10ml that do not contain nicotine, so people could still vape big bottles without nicotine. Manufacturers have also brought out nic shots, 10ml flavourless nicotine liquids that can be added to short fills. Short Fills usually do not fill the bottle with e-liquid, so for example a 100ml e-liquid would come in a 120ml bottle. This allows the consumer to add two nic shots to the bottle and get their nicotine dosage with the e-liquid.

To get your required strength, you will need to do some calculations, for example:

If you have a 100ml short fill liquid, you just add two 10ml 18mg nic shots to the bottle to make 3mg, since the bottle is 120ml bottle size, the nic shots fill the 20ml space.

If you have a 50ml short fill liquid, you just add one 10ml 18mg nic shot to the bottle to make 3mg, since the short fills come in a 60ml bottle size, the nic shots fill the 10ml space.

If you have a 25ml short fill liquid, you just add half a 10ml 18mg nic shot to the bottle to make 3mg, since the short fills come in a 30ml bottle size, the nic shots fill the 5ml space.

To get the perfect liquid, simply follow these steps.

  1. Open the short fill and nic salt bottle and remove the nozzle.
  2. Pour the nic shot into the bottle and refit the nozzle.
  3. Breath the bottle by squeezing excess air out and letting new air in.
  4. Close the bottle and shake until it contains hundreds of bubbles.
  5. Repeat steps 5 and 6.
  6. Leave it to steep in a dark place for 3 to 6 days while repeating steps 5 and 6 once a day. If you can't wait this long, fill your tank and enjoy.

What Is A Nic Salt?

Nic Salts are made from the natural state of nicotine, found in tobacco leaves. If these were added to normal e-liquid, it would need to be vaped at extremely high temperatures just for it to be effective, and it wouldn't be as easily absorbed as normal freebase nicotine. That is why we have nic salts as separate e-liquids.

How Long Does an E-Liquid Last?

Like food, e-liquids also have best before dates, to tell you when the vape juice is no longer guaranteed to be the same quality. The expiration date depends on the ingredients involved.

PG has a shelf life of 2 years, and VG can have a shelf life of 4 to 6 years. Flavours can last up to a year, but the PG and VG (which are preservatives) make the flavour last longer. The expiry date is dependant on the PG shelf life, so e-liquid lasts 2 years. This is the same with all e-liquids, even Max VG, which still contains a very small amount of PG.

The expiry date can also depend on how the e-liquid was created. If it was made by professional chemists in a science lab, it will last longer than one being made in some guy's shed, as well as being safer and better.

E-Liquid can still last up to 2 years once opened, provided that the lid is firmly sealed and the bottle is properly stored.

What E-Liquid Should I Choose?

The main thing you should look at when looking for an e-liquid is the tastes. The other parts of the e-liquid may be fine, but if you don't like the taste, you're not going to want it. Fortunately, there are infinite flavours of e-liquids available, so look for one that you think you might like.

Choosing your nicotine strength would depend on how much you used to smoke. For example:

  • Low: 6mg and below – For smokers who use half a pack or less per day.
  • Medium: 6mg to 15mg – For smokers who smoke between half a pack and a pack in a day.
  • High: 18mg +  – For heavy smokers.

If you don't smoke, or you're looking to quit smoking altogether, you can choose a 0mg e-liquid.

You also need to decide your PG/VG ratio, since you might not want a hard throat hit or a lot of vapour. The best way to start is with a 50/50 VG/PG ratio.

It takes time to pick your perfect e-liquid, but it's worth the journey. Check out our extensive range of e-liquids to find an e-liquid for you!
