However, we will be addressing a very particular topic Andrew Tate has expressed his views on: Vaping.
What is vaping?
Vaping involves inhaling and exhaling vapor produced by a vape mod, vape pen or a disposable vape. The e-cigarette typically contains a battery, a heating element, and a container filled with liquid, known as e-liquid. The e-liquid contains nicotine, flavorings, and other ingredients that are heated by the heating element, producing a vapor that is inhaled by the user. Vaping has become a popular alternative to traditional smoking, as it is a less harmful alternative, and also offers a variety of flavors and nicotine strengths to choose from.
What does e-liquid contain?
E-liquid, also known as e-juice or vape juice, is the liquid that is used in electronic cigarettes and vaporizers. It typically contains a mix of four main ingredients: propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), flavorings, and nicotine (or a nicotine-free alternative). The PG and VG are the base ingredients that provide the vapor in which the flavorings and nicotine are suspended. Both vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol are food-grade substances, completely safe for consumption.
The flavorings used in e-liquids can vary widely, from traditional tobacco and menthol flavors to more exotic fruit, candy, and dessert flavors. The nicotine content of e-liquids can also vary, from zero nicotine to very high levels. Some e-liquids may also contain additional ingredients, such as colorings or sweeteners, but these are not common in most e-liquids.
Andrew Tate’s opinion on vaping
In his videos across social media platforms, Andrew Tate has made several comments about vaping, and how smoking is a better alternative since it is “more studied”. He has posted videos of himself explaining how vapes contain several harmful substances, including Propylene Glycol (which he declared is harmful since it is obtained through petroleum.
Why Andrew Tate is wrong about vaping
While vapes do contain PG (Proplyene Glycol), it isn’t a harmful substance. Proplyene Glycol is an organic substance (like the molecules that make up our own bodies), consisting of Nitrogen, Oxygen and Carbon. What sets most of our tissues and cells apart from other organic substances such as petrol is the molecular and structural formula (How atoms of Nitrogen, Oxygen and Carbon are arranged in the molecule).
It is true that Propylene Glycol can obtained from petroleum, but molecules that make up PG do not contain the same structure as the ones that make up gasoline. This means that the cells in your body have just as much in common with petroleum as PG does. Tate’s claim on vaping being dangerous solely on the fact that can be obtained from petroleum doesn’t contain any scientific evidence to back it up. Additionally, Propylene Glycol can be obtained through various other processes, such as hydrolysis.
However, vaping has not been studied as much as smoking has been. This is largely due to the fact that vaping has not been around for as long as cigarettes have. Regardless of vaping being relatively new, there is enough evidence to suggest that it is far safer than smoking. There are over 7000 chemicals present in cigarette smoke, many of which are carcinogenic.
Conclusion
Andrew Tate is wrong about vaping. There are no scientific studies to support the claim that vaping is in any way more harmful than smoking. In fact, it is the opposite: vaping is a much safer alternative to consuming nicotine.
