How to Choose the Right Nicotine Strength For E-liquid?

If you want to quit smoking and start vaping, the strength of nicotine plays an important role. Nicotine is the main reason smokers fail to quit smoking. So if you want to stay away from cigarette smoking then it is important to choose the right nicotine strength. Traditional cigarettes and vape devices contain nicotine, but smoking is quite harmful as it contains thousands of chemicals.

The strength weights of nicotine are displayed in various ways such as in "%" or "mg" through which one can make a purchase.

One of the many benefits of vaping is that vapers can control the amount of nicotine in it and they can buy a limited amount of nicotine strength in e-liquid.

Let us briefly look at how one can choose the right nicotine strength in e-liquids.

When you buy a 10ml bottle of e-liquid which is 10mg/ml or 1.0%, it contains 10mg nicotine. In simple words, a 10mg bottle contains 1.0% nicotine. Therefore, the lower the mg/ml, the less nicotine in the e-liquid. Thus, an 18mg or 1.8% nicotine strength is much stronger than a 3mg or 0.3%.

The stronger the e-liquid, the more nicotine is delivered into the vapor and it will generate and give a smoother throat hit. If you are a heavy smoker, you should look for higher nicotine strength and vice versa.

What are MTL and DL?

MTL is called Mouth to Lung which is a traditional vaping technique that most vapers prefer. This way, you inhale the vapor from the device into your mouth and then inhale it back. DL, on the other hand, stands for Direct Lung in which the vapor takes a long draw from the device and directs it in. There are many other factors that can influence the choice, such as the disposable vape device you are using or the way you start vaping.

Most vapers prefer MTL draw which means they use 0.0% to 1.8% nicotine strength. They don't like DL vapes because the technique hits the throat well and can produce more vapor.

It is difficult to directly inhale the 1.8% e-liquid. People who do DL Vape use a lower nicotine potency which can be around 0.0% to 0.3%.

Don't get confused with all these terms and start choosing the strength of nicotine that makes you comfortable.

How Does the Strength of Nicotine Help You Quit Smoking?

It is essential to choose a nicotine strength that enables you to vape instead of smoking. If you still cannot control the urge to smoke, you should look for a higher nicotine potency. When you feel the nicotine strength is too high, be sure to do fewer vapes or buy an e-liquid with a lower nicotine strength.

If you choose too high a nicotine strength, you may experience cough, mild nausea, headache and dizziness.

If you go through any of the above symptoms, stop vaping for a bit and all is well. Also, you should know if the strength of nicotine is too low. If so, you may crave more cigarettes which can harm your health.

In this case, you should buy e-liquid with slightly higher nicotine strength. It's okay if you have to choose a higher strength, as long as you choose to vape rather than smoke, it's a good transition for you.

Here is a simple suggestion for smokers who start smoking,

If you smoke 1 to 5 cigarettes a day, you should look for an e-liquid with 0.6% nicotine strength. If you smoke 5 to 10 cigarettes a day, 1.0% nic strength is appropriate. And, if you can smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day, choose an e-liquid with 1.8% nicotine strength.

Always remember that the strength of nicotine has a direct effect on the e-cigarette or e-liquid you choose. If you're buying a low-potency disposable vaporizer, be sure to buy a higher nicotine strength.

Likewise, if you prefer to inhale directly, look for an e-liquid with a low nicotine strength. If you prefer a stronger draw, choose the e-liquid with a higher nicotine strength.
