What is a Pod System?

PODs or "ultra-portable systems" are pods filled with vape juice that snaps into the battery. They are available in pre-filled or refillable designs. Some have power buttons but some are automatic, so you just vape on it without needing to press anything. Most pods are designed for ex-smokers passing over into vaping.

What is the Difference Between Refillable and Prefilled Pod Systems?

Each pod comes under one of two categories, refillable and prefilled. These each have their own pros and cons.

Refillable Pod Systems use empty pods that are manually filled by the user with an e-liquid of their choice. The main advantage of this is it gives you more of a range of flavours.

Pre-Filled pod systems are non-refillable pod kits that use cartridges prefilled with e-liquid. The main advantage is not having the worry of not choosing the right e-liquid and the convenience of not having to fill them yourself.

Advantages of Pod Systems

Broader Appeal

Pod Kits are some of the easiest vapes to use, with some only having 1 button and others having none at all. Pod systems are also capable of vaping thick high VG liquids with little sacrifice to the overall experience.

Portability

Pod kits are usually small, and therefore very portable. They can be carried in your pocket discreetly and can be held comfortably in the hand.

Stronger Nicotine Shot

Pod Systems can use a lot more nicotine than other kits due to their use of nicotine salts, allowing higher concentrations of nicotine without sacrificing smoothness or flavour. 24mg of nicotine can provide an unpleasant experience for a newbie. The same person can have 50mg in a nic salt and can be fine with it.

Leak Proof

Since pod kits are pre-built and use disposable cartridges, there is no chance of getting a leaky tank so you can vape all day with no issues.

Other Advantages

  • Designed for vapors to quit smoking
  • Tight draw (comparable to that of a cigarette)
  • Minimal vapor production

Disadvantages of Pod Systems

Limited Flavour Capacity

One of the biggest benefits of vaping is the vast amount of flavours you can choose from, but with some pod systems, they are designed with cartridges so only specific flavours can be chosen. These flavours can still be great (like the wide selection of pods Kilo offers).

Smaller Liquid Capacity

Since the pod kits are small, they would carry less liquid. The smallest pod devices can contain less than 1ml, some larger pod systems can hold up to 2ml.

Lower Battery Life

A typical pod kit will usually last about 2 to 3 hours before needing to charge, while box mods usually last a lot longer.

Other Disadvantages

  • Limited vapor production
  • Can be more expensive

How to use a Vape

  1. Fully charge the battery.
  2. For a refillable pod vape, fill it up with the e-liquid of your choice.
  3. Allow 5 to 10 minutes for the juice to settle so it can be fully absorbed into the wick.
  4. Insert the pod firmly into the device. If your pod vape has an on/off function, make sure it’s on.
  5. If your pod vape is draw activated, then go ahead and vape it like it was a regular cigarette. If it has a fire button, hold it while inhaling, but don’t press it before.
